Big Birds

There must be thirty or so blue heron nesting in the trees along the ridgeline below Patrick Henry Dam. You can see them from Fort Henry Drive but it's safer to turn off on Wesley Road to get a look. Here are a few photos I took of the nests.

Thanks for the photos. I love to see them wading in the streams around here and was excited to see them nesting.

don't trust david taylor for anything. in the early 60's we would play football in his backyard that was full of persimmons and he swore they would wash out. Plus I lifeguarded with him one summer at the eagles club in Colonial Heights...not to be trusted. Ask him why his index finger is gone. All in jest a great guy and a great naturalist.
