The dream of the fifties - losing weight by magic. This was one way, the vibrating belt exercise machine. My next door neighbor Mammy had one and I loved watching her "shake the pounds off!" Mammy didn't wear those kinds of outfits though.
Great picture! I remember there was a little room adjacent to the laundromat in Greenacres that had a bunch of these machines with ripply wood rollers that were supposed to break up the fat. I think there were some other similar torture machines there too. As I recall, they cost a dime for 15 minutes or somthing like that.
