Grit, America's Greatest Family Newspaper

Ralph Crawford at Antiques on Broad displaying the proper way for a Grit salesman to carry his newspapers. You can't see it but the bag is open on the front side for easy withdrawal of the paper. Ralph has the bag along with a number of old Grit issues at his shop.

Click on these pictures and you may be able to read some of the Grit articles, depending on your web browser.

I was a GRIT salesman in the mid-sixties. I bit off more than I could chew, and after a time of standing in front of Oakwood Market in the rain trying to sell to exiting customers, I gave up. I wound up chucking the un-bought papers in the dumpster, then stealing the money from my Dad to pay for them! When I got caught, it was a bad time for me and my bottom!
