I love these little glimpses into what is, for me, "ancient history" (my mom was born six years after this column was published; my grandmother was 26!) Amazing to realize that 91 years have passed; I guess being a child of the 1970's, I'm accustomed to the threshold of all things modern being almost exactly "100 years ago"--but 100 years back from NOW, most of what we recognize as "modern life" was already in place, or well on the way to being common.
Except, of course, for the Internet...at least I can say THAT came about within my lifetime!
